Rubik's-Cube LED Dance Platforms — Mr. Purple, Lower East Side

In December 2024, an events company throwing a party at Mr. Purple — the rooftop bar on the 15th floor of Hotel Indigo on the Lower East Side — came to us with a specific picture in their head: platforms for dancers that looked like giant Rubik's cubes.

The build: Two 4ft x 4ft LED dance platforms, each standing 40.5 inches tall — 40 units in all. The Rubik's look came from the color control: instead of setting each platform to a single color, we set every row of the stacked structure to its own color — white on top, then red, blue, green, and lime stacked beneath. No custom fabrication, no vinyl wrap; the standard modular platform, configured to match the client's vision with light alone.

Why it works at a rooftop bar: Mr. Purple's draw is the skyline — the room stays dark so the view and the dancers pop. A pair of glowing cube platforms gives the dancers height and light without a single cable run across the floor: everything is battery-powered, carried up in sections, and assembled in place on the 15th floor.
